CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

AUGUST 6TH

👶Toddler Time | 9:30 AM | Join other toddlers and parents/caregivers for weekly story time fun! Toddler Time uses age-appropriate stories, songs and finger plays to engage toddlers and their parents/caregivers. This story time is geared towards toddlers ages 18 months through 3 years. Tickets are required and will be handed out at the Children's Desk starting 30 minutes prior, while supplies last. Participating children must have a ticket to attend Toddler Time. AUGUST 7TH

📖Preschool Storytime | 10:30 AM | Join other babies and parents/caregivers for weekly story time fun! Tiny Tots uses age-appropriate stories, songs and finger plays, and playtime to engage babies and their parents/caregivers. This story time is geared towards walkers through 18 months. Baby Bookworms uses age-appropriate stories, songs and finger plays, and playtime to engage babies and their parents/caregivers. This story time is geared towards newborns through just walking. Homeschool Hangout | 1 PM - 2 PM | Teen Space |

Teens! Hang out, play games, and do something awesome at the library! We have tablets, a huge digital table, game consoles, and more for FREE use. AUGUST 7TH

Inklings Teen Writing Club | 4 PM - 5 PM | Teen Space | Join us at Inklings, our teen creative writing club. Bring your writing to share and get feedback on from other teens. Any kind of writing is welcome, from short stories to fanfiction, poetry to novels! This program is open to ages 12-17, 18 if in high school. Email [email protected] for more information.

AUGUST 11TH

Twisted Crafters | 12 PM - 1 PM | Teen Space |

This month teens will get the chance to create DIY faux stain glass designs on the 4th and decorate book edges on the 11th. Show your creative side while hanging out with other teens!

AUGUST 6TH

Using The HCLP APP | 1 PM - 4:30 PM | 📍Community Engagement Area | Join your Did you know HCPL has a mobile app that lets you check out books, print documents, manage your library account, and so much more? Library staff will be on hand to talk to you about the app and help you download it onto your mobile device. Email [email protected] for more information.

ESL Conversational Classes | 6 PM - 7:30 PM | 📍Community Engagement Area | Join Join ESOL instructor Martha to learn English with fellow learners! This program is hosted by a community partner.

AUGUST 7TH

50+ Bus Trip | 8:30 AM - 5 PM | If you are 50+, join us for a fun-filled day provided in conjunction with Harris County Precinct 3 bus trip program!   Always a good time, we visit area museums, local attractions and activities and sometimes do some shopping on these all-day trips.  Entry fees and lunch are dutch-treat.  We usually return to the library around 5pm.   For more details, visit hcpl.net/registration or email [email protected].

Young at heART: Watercolor Group | 10AM - 2 PM | Children’s Activity Room | Watercolor for “Young at heART” adults meet every Tuesday morning to enjoy watercolor painting while commiserating with fellow artists! This friendly and social group is open to all adults and to all levels of art experience, including those who have never painted with watercolor at all. Join in for a morning of beautiful art and fun conversation! For more information, call the library at 832-559-4200.

Community Craft Swap | 1 PM - 4 PM | Community Engagement Area | Overflowing with craft supplies? Ready to declutter and find something new? Come to our community craft swap! Bring your gently used or unwanted craft supplies (yarn, fabric, paints, tools, etc.) and swap them for new-to-you treasures. Lunch and Learn Genealogy | 10 AM - 12 PM | Community Engagement Area | Participants bring their own lunch to enjoy while watching various genealogy how-to webinars presented by experts in the field.  The topic will be decided by participants shortly prior to the start of the program.  Email [email protected] for more details.

Sit and Stitch | 9 AM - 12 PM | 📍MEETING ROOM | Do you enjoy cross stitch, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, or any other needle arts? Then you should join our Sit and Stitch Group on Thursday mornings! Bring your projects to work on and visit with this awesome group!

EVERY FRIDAY

American Mah-Jongg | 1 PM - 3 PM | 📍Community Engagement Area | Join us every Friday in the Community Engagement Area from 1PM-3PM to play American Mah-Jongg! EVERY 3RD TUESDAY

ROOTSQUAD | 10 AM - 12 PM | Rootsquad genealogy group meets on the 3rd Tuesday from 10am-12pm. Stay up to date on current family history industry news, hear research tips, learn from genealogy webinars and expert speakers, and share ways to improve research techniques. We also tell stories, share heirlooms and in general, enjoy talking about anything genealogy related together. Email [email protected] for more information.

INNOVATION LAD ORIENTATIONS

AUGUST 6TH

Cricut Orientation | 4:30 PM – 6 PM | Innovation Lab (L216) | Get Creative with Cricut! This orientation session will introduce participants to Cricut machine capabilities, operation, and use. Completion of this orientation session is mandatory before patrons can schedule time to use the Cricut at Harris County Public Library. This class is appropriate for ages 8 and up.
