GERMAN FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

This past weekend, Old Town Tomball transformed into a vibrant celebration of culture and community with the annual Tomball German Heritage Festival, held March 28-30, 2025. Drawing thousands of visitors from across Texas and beyond, this beloved event honored the area’s rich German roots with a lively mix of music, food, and tradition. From the moment the keg was tapped, the streets buzzed with energy as festival-goers donned lederhosen and dirndls, immersing themselves in the spirit of Gemütlichkeit—German for warmth and friendliness.

The festival kicked off Friday evening with a burst of live music across three stages, featuring everything from traditional oompah bands to modern German beats. Saturday brought the crowd-favorite parade, followed by quirky contests like the Bier Stein Hoist and Chicken Dance, where participants of all ages showed off their skills and stamina. The aroma of authentic schnitzel, bratwurst, and pretzels filled the air, with local vendors like Schnitzels & Giggles dishing out plates as fast as the lines could move. Over 160 street vendors lined the historic streets near the Train Depot Plaza, offering German souvenirs, crafts, and heritage treasures that delighted shoppers.

We are looking forward to attending again next year (hopefully Texas will bring us more pleasant weather).
